Review: Blink 182 – Always (Rock)

This review cover the pop rock track Blink 182 – Always.

This track was released in 2003 on a self-titled album.

The track starts with some synth string. Percussion work then makes an appearance. After that, a guitar joins the track. The vocals then join the track as the string elements drop out.

After that, the vocals take the track into the main chorus as the guitars fill out. This is capped off with an instrumental section.

The vocals then rejoin the track for a verse. The guitars become more acoustic at this point. After that, the vocals then lead the track into the main chorus as the guitars gradually fill out. This is capped off with another instrumental section. The guitars then pull back a bit as the instrumental section continues.

After that, the vocals return backed only by the drum kit. A false ending then takes over with silence. Another round of the main chorus joins the track. An instrumental section caps this off. A synth string joins the track and another synth then takes over. The synth then leads the track out.

For me, the guitar work is probably the strongest aspect of this track. They do a great job at setting a mood and they just sound great overall.

The vocals, meanwhile, are decent. The problem, however, is that the lyrics are much more bland. I’m honestly not sure I hear anything here that really stands out as amazing. It’s just venturing down a very well worn path in the pop genre and seemingly going through the motions.

Overall, it is a decent track, though nothing I would get excited over. It’s good great guitar work and the vocals are decent. The lyrics so fall a bit flat for me. So, a track that has good elements, though there’s plenty of better music out there if you ask me.
