Review: Above & Beyond Presents OceanLab – Satellite (Original Above & Beyond Mix) (Progressive Trance)

This review covers the progressive trance track Above & Beyond Presents OceanLab – Satellite (Original Above & Beyond Mix).

This track was released in 2009 on the Sirens Of The Sea Remixed album.

This track has so many strengths, it’s really hard to figure out where to begin here. It might be a bit difficult to think of how you can write lyrics with any kind of deep meaning, but this track actually does this quite successfully. The lyrics are personifying a satellite and uses very well done metaphors to do so. Perhaps the only hick-up I find with this track is the somewhat excessive use of the word “baby”. Really, that’s a nit-pick on my part.

The vocals in this track are also quite talented. There’s no garble of slurring through the lyrics. Everything is very concise and easy to hear which is, quite frankly, fantastic. I can’t think of anything that was wrong with the lyrics. So, it was very well done.

The overall production quality of this track was also incredibly well done. The pads are excellent. The overall melody was fantastic. The synths beautifully compliment the vocals. All the levels with everything were spot on. the effects really added a nice subtle bit of personality to the overall audio atmosphere. It was reallly quite perfect.

Overall, I think the only complaint I have is that there was the over-use of the word “baby”, but beyond that, this track was absolutely flawless. Definitely a highly recommended track all around.
