How Not to Spend More Time With Your Partner

A woman wanted to spend more time with her boyfriend. So, what better way to spice up the romance than by sending bomb threats to his place of work?

PITTSFIELD — An Etna woman who wanted to spend more time with her boyfriend was arrested after she directed two separate bomb threats at Puritan Medical Products where he worked, forcing evacuations and disrupting manufacturing operations, police and company officials said Friday.

Pittsfield police Chief Harold “Pete” Bickmore said the first threat was made around 9 a.m. Thursday when a woman called Maine State Police and said she was going to place a bomb at the Puritan plant at 129 North Main St. The same woman in a second call two hours later said she intended to place four pipe bombs near the plant, Bickmore said.

State Police notified Pittsfield police and the sheriff’s offices in both Somerset and Penobscot counties, and then traced the call to Etna, Bickmore said. Penobscot deputies found the woman after interviewing people in an Etna neighborhood. The deputies secured a confession from the woman, who said there were no bombs, according to Bickmore.

She was identified by authorities as 33-year-old Kayla Blake. She was charged with a felony count of terrorizing and taken to the Somerset County Jail. Her bail was set at $1,500 and she was ordered to stay away from Puritan property and not contact the company.

One word to the dude in that relationship: “run”.

Ever Find Yourself in a Search and Rescue Party?

A Turkish man was apparently missing. So, authorities decided to send out search and rescue crews. Who better to join the search and rescue effort than the person they’re looking for?

Beyhan Mutlu, a Turkish citizen living in northwestern Bursa province’s Inegöl district, was reported missing early Tuesday after his loved ones lost touch with him for several hours.

The man, after meeting his friends, went into a forest while he was drunk, where he joined a group in the area who were helping Turkish authorities “find” himself.

Later on, upon inquiring Mutlu learned that it was indeed himself they were carrying out the search and rescue efforts for.

Authorities later gave the “missing” man a drive home after taking his statement.

Well that was easy!

The Artist That Trolled a Museum

A Danish artist was asked to recreate the work he made in 2007. The work was showcasing the average annual income for two different countries. Apparently, a museum paid him $84,000 to do it and he accepted. That’s when thing took a rather amusing turn:

In addition to compensation for the work, Haaning was also give bank notes to use in the work, museum director Lasse Andersson told CBS News via email. Their contract even stated the museum would give Haaning an additional 6,000 euros to update the work, if needed, Andersson said. At the time the works were initially exhibited, the Danish piece highlighted the average income of 328,000 kroner, approximately $37,800, while the average Austrian salary illustrated was around €25,000, or $29,000.

“We also have a contract that the money $84,000 US dollars to be displayed in the work is not Jens’ and that it must be paid back when the exhibition closes on 16 January 2022,” Andersson said.

“The exhibition is called ‘Work it Out’ and features works of art by many different contemporary artists,” he said, adding that the exhibition It runs from September 24 to January 16, 2022.

Andersson said when they spoke to the artist about making the piece earlier this year, he agreed to the contract and “he indicated a fairly easy job.”

But when it came time for Haaning to actually deliver, he did the unexpected.

“The curator received an email in which Jens Haaning wrote that he had made a new piece of art work and changed the work title into ‘Take the Money and Run,'” Andersson said. “Subsequently, we could ascertain that the money had not been put into the work.”

Indeed, the frames meant to be filled with cash were empty.

“The staff was very surprised when they opened the crates. I was abroad when the crates were opened, but suddenly received a lot of mails,” Andersson said.

When he finally saw “Take the Money and Run,” Andersson said he actually laughed. “Jens is known for his conceptual and activistic art with a humoristic touch. And he gave us that – but also a bit of a wake up call as everyone know wonders were did the money go,” he said.

Yoink!

How Not to Feel Sad About Hearing a Song

Music can elicit a whole range of emotions. In some cases, it can make people sad. One woman in Troy Michigan, however, took her sadness to a whole new level. It resulted in the cops being called to the Paradise Fruit Market and the woman leaving before they arrive. At that point, things escalated:

When the workers told her they couldn’t stop the song, she got angry and started yelling, so employees called police to escort the woman out of the store. However, the woman left and called the police to tell them she went to Sterling Heights.

An officer found the woman sitting in a vehicle on Parliament Drive west of Pall Mall Drive. As he was speaking to her, she got agitated, accused him of lying, and drove away, police said.

The officer tried to use his vehicle to block the woman from leaving but she drove around the patrol car and left. She was stopped, arrested, and later charged with hinder and obstruction of a police officer.

After she was released from the Troy Lock-Up Facility, she walked into the police department and began screaming at the front desk attendant. Police said the woman would not calm down, so she was arrested again and a disorderly conduct charge was added.

I’d be depressed too if I heard people playing Free Fallin’ or Bitch I’m Madonna, but even then, I wouldn’t take things to that level by any stretch of the imagination.

So You Called 911 Because You Gotta Go Pee…

Stuck in traffic? Inconvenient. Having a strong need to go the bathroom too? That really sucks. As a reason to call 911? Yup, you are an idiot:

A police force in Ontario has released 911 audio after a man called the emergency line to report he had to go pee while stuck in traffic.

Peel Regional Police released the audio on Friday to remind people about the proper uses of dialling 911.

When the 38-second call begins, the operator asks the man if he needs police, fire or ambulance.

He first says he needs an ambulance, but then tells the operator he actually needs police.

“The thing is I have to pee and these guy are not moving,” the caller tells the operator.

“This is your emergency?” the operator responds. “That you have to pee? And how are the police going to help you urinate?”

I hate to saw “water bottle”, but under the circumstances mentioned…

Good: Perfectly Well Executed Police Raid on Wanted Man. Oops: Was a Lookalike and Not the Wanted Man

Police were on the lookout for a man by the name of Brian Laundrie. They thought they finally tracked him down and executed a raid. Things kinda slid into “oopsey” territory from there:

Severin Beckwith, of Ithica, New York, told the New Yorker that he and girlfriend Anna Brettmann were napping at a Lodge at Fontana Village Resort, where they were staying amid a hike from Georgia to Virginia along the Appalachian Trail that began in late September, when they were awoken by authorties.

“Next thing I see is a bunch of guys with riot shields with ‘U.S. Marshals’ written on them,” Beckwith said. “Handguns pointed at my face.”

Brettman was still in bed when the feds ambushed Beckwith, who said he was handcuffed while still in his underwear and taken out to the hallway, noting that he had a hunch as to why he was mistakenly being arrested.

“I really hoped I was right,” Beckwith said.

Additionally, Brettman and Beckwith booked the hotel using a credit card connected to a New York State ID, which tied into Petito being a native of Long Island.

Fortunately, Beckwith was quickly cleared as he didn’t have Laundrie’s tattoos and showed legitimate identification.

Beckwith said U.S. Marshals advised him to shave his beard, which he quickly regretted doing, “because I have much less of a chin than Laundrie does.”

The couple said they were given a complementary hotel buffet breakfast for their troubles after the incident.

I have to ask, why does the guy need to shave when he had nothing to do with any of this and this is a police screw up in the first place? Also, a hotel buffet breakfast?

The Weather Report Was Very Eye Opening

It was promising to be just another weather report for KREM 2 viewers in Spokane. What ensued was no ordinary weather report. Evidently, somehow, pornographic material ended up playing part way through the report. uh oh:

A TV station in Spokane, Washington is apologizing after accidentally airing a pornographic clip during the weather forecast on the 6 p.m. newscast on Sunday. While CBS affiliate KREM’s meteorologist, Michelle Boss, delivered the weather report, graphic video of a woman played on a screen behind her.

The clip was shown for about 13 seconds before the news show cut to a weather map. Strangely, neither Michelle nor anchor Cody Proctor, who was also on screen, reacted to what has playing in the background.

Daniel Walters, a reporter for Spokane community paper The Inlander, shared a censored still from the newscast on Twitter.

During the 11 p.m. news on Sunday, the station apologized to viewers, saying, “Those of us here at KREM 2 want to apologize for something that happened in our 6 p.m. An inappropriate video aired in the first part of the show. We are diligently working to make sure something like this doesn’t happen again.”

The Spokane police, who received numerous calls over the incident, are now investigating. Per a release that Walters shared from them, “the investigation is ongoing and no culpability of any kind has been determined.”

As someone who has experience working in television, incidences like this don’t happen unless someone was playing it somewhere behind the scenes. It never ceases to amaze me how there are people who legitimately think it’s OK to play porn at work. This time, it burned someone or a group of people. A mistake like this is often a career ender. Since this is the US, I’d be impressed if this doesn’t result in, at minimum, a severe reprimand somewhere along the line.

Bad: Drunk Girlfriend Hits Security Guard in Head With Red Bull Can. Good: Boyfriend Drives to Police Station. Fail: While Drunk and With a Flat Tire

Pretty sure that couple has has had enough for one evening:

TROY, Mich. – Police said a couple was getting very drunk one night at a Troy restaurant when a Dearborn woman struck a security guard with a can of Red Bull. Her boyfriend later drove to the police station on a flat tire while highly intoxicated, officers said.

Troy police were called at 12:56 a.m. Thursday (Oct. 14) to the Mon Jin Lau restaurant on East Maple Road.

A security employee at the restaurant told police that workers tried to remove a 25-year-old Dearborn woman and a 26-year-old Detroit man after multiple complaints that they were smoking inside.

When workers tried to remove the couple, the woman shoved a security guard and struck him in the face with a can of Red Bull, according to authorities.

Troy police said the Detroit man was offered help to find a ride home, but he declined. At 2:14 a.m., a white Infiniti G35 was caught on camera pulling into the Troy Police Department, and the man got out of the driver’s seat, according to authorities.

Officers spoke with the man and told him his front passenger side tire was flat, and the rim was bent. He denied driving the vehicle, but police confirmed via camera that he arrived alone, they said.

Troy police asked him to complete several sobriety tests, but he performed poorly, they said. He submitted to a preliminary breath test, with a result of .163%, according to authorities.

Achievement unlocked!
