Mainstream Media Faces Growing Backlash Over Minnesota Murder

Mainstream media has been pretending that the ICE murder in Minnesota is merely a political debate. Outrage is growing.

We’re now 48 hours after ICE murdered Renee Good by shooting her in the head multiple times as she attempted to flee. The Trump administration fed the public obvious bullshit lies about how ICE agents were stuck in the snow (they were not) and how Good intentionally tried to run over the agents (she did not). This while trying to sell the lie that the point blank range shots through the side window was merely an act of defence.

The video evidence obviously disproves this. With footage showing the incident from multiple angles, it was very clear that ICE murdered Good.

The agent in question was not in danger nor was he even injured. He was so unbothered by the situation that he didn’t even bother to stop talking on his cell phone during the incident. What’s more, he calmly walked away, got in his vehicle, and left the scene of the crime on top of it all.

In response, there was a huge handle light vigil to remember Good that night. Trump officials rightfully received backlash and protesters have been coming out in droves to express their anger and sadness over the murder.

While that was going on, the mainstream media started receiving growing backlash as well for their handling of the story. As we reported yesterday, the mainstream media tried to do their view from nowhere approach and attempted to give both sides equal weight as if this whole situation was confusing and unclear. This despite the massive amount of video footage. One of the ways they tried to paint the situation was that this story has “duelling narratives”. This was, of course, absolute nonsense given that it is very clear that Trump officials were lying their collective asses off over this whole situation and all you had to do was watch the footage to be able to conclude that Trump officials were lying.

Of course, that would be “hard” work. So, the murder was treated like just a normal political debate between right wing and left wing people. What the mainstream media ended up doing was showing just how far they have fallen in terms of being trustworthy when they can’t even come close to being capable of reporting basic fact.

A few apologists out there are trying to cover up the media mistakes by saying that the reporting came in as events were unfolding. They argue that not all of the facts were on the table right away and that you needed to give them more time to verify everything. That narrative, however, collapsed as time continued to pass and more outlets simply continued pushing the narrative that this is just a political debate and one side is saying one thing and another is saying another.

Today, we are now 48 hours after the incident and the outrage towards mainstream media is growing. In a live blog post from CNN, the outlet wrote this the day after the incident:

CNN obtained multiple angles of the fatal shooting of a woman by ICE agents in Minneapolis yesterday. The video below walks through them, showing nuance in what happened.

What took place prior to the shooting remains unclear.

This sparked anger on social media:

FUCK ALL THE WAY OFF, CNN

F*CK YOU COMPLETELY CNN

I would love to see the entire video but, from what I did see, the ICE agent ran into her line of traffic not the other way around. She was turned to the side at the first agent who was attacking her through the window; she wouldn’t have even seen the agent who killed her. There was no legal justification for his weapon to be drawn, let alone fired.

This may come as a surprise, but law enforcement is supposed to have a litany of constraints placed on them before engaging lethal force…far more than a civilian in the same circumstance.

This was murder.

Wait, I can still echo it.

fark CNN

In a YouTube video, The Hill published a video on this with the title “Deadly Shooting Of Renee Good By ICE In Minnesota Sparks U.S. DIVIDE. The responses were unsurprising:

The so called “divide” is because the media refuses to report the proper facts of what happened

Officials are using this to further divide us and prevent investigations into fraud.

Divide ???????? propaganda

“Provided conflicting accounts” more commonly known as “lying”

Global News published their own video entitles “Minneapolis on edge as competing narratives emerge over ICE shooting“. The responses were unsurprisingly heated.

Competing narratives? I know what I saw with my own eyes.

Competing narratives? More like propaganda competing with camera angles, original audio and history of the involved.

What competing narratives? There is only one narrative, and a bunch of lies.

There is no journalism any more…

Competing narratives? Okay people, don’t believe your lying eyes. MSM is absolutely garbage. Can’t believe my tax dollars pay for this trash.

WTKR News 3 published a video entitled “Deadly ICE shooting in Minnesota gives rise to competing narratives“. The anger was present there too:

Concerned how the investigative journalist explains what happens with out showing the video.

Competing narratives is a crazy way to define lies for propaganda

THE VIDEO ONLY SHOWS AGENTS TO HER LEFT NOT THE FRONT , JESUS

No. The news is responsible for competing narratives.

Several other outlets have taken to disabling comment entirely almost as if to acknowledge that the coverage is garbage and they want to avoid some of the growing anger from the public.

Either way, none of the above was me talking here. This is other people seeing the video footage, understanding that Good was murdered, looking to media presenters to see what they had to say, and the media presenters completely failing to even acknowledge basic facts about what was seen. This is the degradation of trust in the media happening in real time.

Now, the media had a lot of options in covering this. They could be asking if the agent in question could face murder charges. They could have talked about what the procedures are when an officer kills a civilian. Additional options include covering the anger over the killing or how the incident could cause already simmering tensions to boil over with the Trump administration. Heck, why not have multiple analysis to drill down the videos itself. The mainstream media had a lot of tools in the toolkit for covering this. Instead, many of them chose one of the worst options as they said, “hey, let’s ‘both sides’ this one so we don’t have to do much work besides gathering quotes.” I can definitely tell you that the outrage speaks for itself as to why this was a piss poor choice for how to cover this.

At any rate, the anger directed towards the media that we highlighted here was justified. I saw the video footage too. It was clear that ICE murdered Good. What’s more, Good was denied medical attention from a doctor who was on scene on top of it all. There’s no question in my mind that what ICE did was criminal and the perpetrators of this murder need to be brought to justice. This isn’t rocket science and the media should know better, yet here we are.
