A home invasion in Lincoln Park resulted in a vehicle being returned five hours after it was stolen.
The suspect entered Lauren Lee’s house near the intersection of New York and Ferris Avenues around 2:30 a.m. Jan. 22. When the family dog started barking, the suspect swiped the keys to their Ford Explorer and jetted out of the house. He then hopped in the SUV and sped away, while being chased by Lee’s husband.
About five hours later, though, the car reappeared.
“We were in shock,” Lee told WXYZ. “I’ve never heard of somebody stealing a car and bringing it back.”
Someone parked the Ford Explorer across the street from the Lee home around 7:30 a.m., leaving the key and evidence of a craving inside.
At 5:29 a.m., the suspect went to a McDonald’s in Taylor, 21300 Ecorse Road, and got a breakfast burrito.
