Welcome to the 199th instalment of our first impression video series. Today, we are playing the Nintendo Switch game, Yoshi’s Crafted World for the first time. You can check out the video directly on YouTube or in the embed below:

One of the things that struck me while playing is that this has a decidedly 2.5D feel. While it is a side scroller, you can move up and down along the paths as well. I don’t recall this really being much of a thing back in the N64 or SNES days. The only thing I remember in these games back then that is even remotely similar is the use of doors, but that’s it.

Indeed, Yoshi games have generally always had rather unique art styles associated with it and this game is definitely no exception to that. It has a very arts and crafts style going for it using cardboard and ordinary items associated with it. So, it definitely has an interesting theme going for it.

Anyway, I wanted to hear from you. What did you think of this game? For those who have played this game, was this a nice instalment to the overall Yoshi franchise or did you find the style a bit odd to you?

For those who have played other Yoshi games, but not this one in particular, what did you think of what you saw in this video? Does this have a very interesting and familiar feel to it or do you think the formula is not necessarily a good fit to a modern game?

Also, for those who haven’t played any Yoshi games at all, what did you think of the footage here? Does this look like a game that offers a good change of pace or is this game a bit too G rated for your taste? Let us know in the comments below!
