Welcome to the 238th instalment of our first impression video series. Today, we are playing the Nintendo Switch game, Super Mario Bros. Wonder for the first time. You can check out the video directly on YouTube or in the embed below:

I had heard that there was some… interesting elements in this game, but playing this game and experiencing it myself was definitely wild anyway. Trying to process some of this stuff in my mind and just express my reaction became, well, difficult to say the least.

Still, while this is certainly a different visual style for a game, I’m definitely looking forward to what this game has to offer anyway. It’s certainly a rather unique take on the standard 2D formula that, in retrospect, kind of reminds me of Yoshi’s Island for the Super Nintendo.

Anyway, I wanted to hear from you. What are your thoughts on the game?

For those who have played this game, what did you think? Was this an entertaining and unique take on the standard 2D adventure game formula or were you a little too weirded out by things like the singing piranha plant parade?

For those who have played other Mario games, but not this one in particular, what did you think of what you saw here? Does this look like a game you’d totally be into or does this seem like a game you’d rather just not want to have anything to do with?

Also, for those who haven’t played any Mario games, what did you think of what you saw? Does this look like a game you might be interested in checking out or is it a little, uh, too different for your taste? Let us know in the comments below!

This video is part of our first impression video series. Below is a list of 50 of the previously made first impression video’s we’ve made in the past:
