Welcome to the 200th instalment of our first impression video series. Today, we are playing the Playstation 3 game, Dirt 2 for the first time. You can check out the video directly on YouTube or in the embed below:
It’s been a while, but I am finally bringing the Playstation 3 back out of retirement. This in an effort to put some older games into the first week of every month. I’ll be continuing my series on Playstation 3 games until I get the rest of my library played. One thing is for sure, it is great to be exploring this consoles games again as it feels like a blast from the past.
This month, I decided to continue my exploration of this consoles library with Dirt 2. It actually took me quite a bit of time to finally find this game, but by the time I got this game, I had put the PS3 into retirement. So, I couldn’t wait to get this game going once I was able to get into the library again. After all, I had only played the previous game in this franchise.
One thing that stood out for me in this game was the variety of races. There is the more classic pole position style start to a race, the long start line of a race with the trucks (similar to the previous game), and even a staggered start point to point rally race. This all within the first 10 minutes. So, I can’t wait to see what all this game has to offer if that’s the variety I got right away.
I also wanted to hear from you. For those who have played this game, what did you think of this one? Was this a great game worth playing or did you find this to be a weaker title to the franchise?
For those who have played other Dirt games, but not this one, what did you think of when you saw the video? Does this look like a great game to play or does it seem too familiar and/or old to go back and check out at this point?
Also, for those who have never played any of the Dirt games, what are your thoughts on what you saw here? Does this look like an interesting change of pace to your average racing game or do you prefer the more controlled sim-racing style game? Maybe you prefer other genre’s instead? Either way, let us know in the comments below!
