Announcement: The August 2020 Wiki Mini-Update 2

We here at Freezenet are proud to announce yet another big milestone for the Wiki. We have completed another archiving project for your research and entertainment.

Well, that didn’t take long. Last week, we announced the completion of the archived show, Corsten’s Countdown. As we planned, the next big project was going to be much smaller. As a result, we ended up completing this one much more quickly.

This week, we managed to complete our 5th show archive. This show is Air Up There. The show itself comprises of 100 episodes spanning more than 143 hours of documented music. This is no small amount of music, but it is definitely the smallest show we have completed to date.

While it was a small archiving project to be sure (comparatively speaking), it was, by no means, easy. In fact, while researching, the information we uncovered wound up being very polluted over time. At first, for us, many playlists made no sense at all because it was obviously different then what was played. In other instances, we found two entirely separate playlists – one was correct while the other was completely wrong. So, what the heck is going on here?

As it turns out, the biggest problem with information about this show is mislabeling. Some of the earlier episodes (think episodes 1-10) have playlists that are from later shows. After some looking into this, what we can conclude is that they came from ah.fm. The thing is, the first few episodes were not hosted on that site. When they came to that site, it seems plausible that the site simply named those episodes as episode 1, 2, 3, and so on. We even went so far as to figure out which episodes these came from (we think we got them all). Episode 1 is for episode 12, episode 2 is for episode 13, episode 3 is for 14, etc. So, this appears to be where all the confusion came from for the earlier playlists.

It should be noted that later episodes on that site were, in fact, accurate. We don’t know which episode was the first to be accurate (as we don’t have access to them all), but they did ultimately become accurate later on (by episode 16 we figure), so not all of them are wrong. In fact, a vast majority are actually correct.

Unfortunately, we ran into a host of other problems along the way after this. Later episodes posted to streaming platforms have lots of mislabeling issues. Sometimes, episodes are labelled one episode off. Others are two episodes off. One is even a completely random episode that we were able to also catch. As we went along, we were able to append correct episodes wherever we could find them. In the case of episodes that actually don’t have a streamed version available, we pointed out which episode that episode actually is. So, yes, as I went along, it almost looks like I was drunk when I was posting each episode, but they are very much accurate to the best of my knowledge.

A few other issues also surrounded incorrect dates. We tried to correct what we could, but sadly, some of that information may be completely missing. Most of it is available, fortunately.

What we were able to do, however, is recover loads of lost playlists. Most of them were thanks to a broken page that still somehow managed to stay live on the official Tritonal website. This was definitely a Godsend because it gave us a pile of playlists that would otherwise be completely unavailable. In addition to this, we were able to do a deep search in old cached versions of the official website. As a result, we recovered at least 2 more playlists on top of it all. Working with all this new data, we were also able to utilize the information already on the Wiki to repair lost bits of information (largely label information). Some episodes were, of course, more successful then others.

As a result of all of this, we have compiled what is definitely one of the most complete and accurate sets of information available. This is thanks to other fragments of information randomly floating around that we were able to use and stitch together a fairly complete picture of the show.

So, although we did quite a bit to clean up the information and present each episode as accurately as possible, there’s always that possibility there was something we missed. So, if we did miss some information by accident or if you would like to contribute to the known information (there are a lot of gaps still left behind sadly), feel free to let us know in the comments below or in our dedicated forum thread. We’ll do what we can to make corrections.

We hope you enjoy this latest addition to the Wiki and look forward to providing you with more archived information in the future! Thank you and enjoy the Wiki!
