Review: Trancesetters – Secrets Of Meditation (Zoom Hallucinogenic Flange Dub Mix) (House)

This review covers the house track Trancesetters – Secrets Of Meditation (Zoom Hallucinogenic Flange Dub Mix).

This track was released in 1994 as part of a single.

The track starts with a kick. Other drum kit elements then come in bit by bit. A short voice sample comes in. A pitch-bent version of the voice sample is layered on top. Both drop out and a bassline comes in. A number of elements then drop out as a longer version of the voice sample makes an appearance. Pitch-bent versions of this then come in as well.

From there, a 303-like synth then comes in. Another one then comes in, layering on top if it. It sounds like a spring sound. This synth also has a reverberation effect applied to it. The voice sample then makes a return.

The drop then hits, leaving only a few synth effects and a synth melody. The voice sample makes a return here as well. Parts of a drum kit then make a return to start building the track up. A clap is added. The bassline then comes in. After that, the kick rejoins the track for a moment, drops out, then returns again. From there, the rest of the drum kit makes a return.

From there, a 303-like synth comes in. The other 303-like synth is added. The voice sample then makes a return again. After that, some of the elements start to drop out. The last few percussion’s lead the track out.

One thing I do like about the track is that it sets up a pretty interesting audio atmosphere. There is also some nice synths that play out. Even the way it drops is nicely done.

A problem I have with the track is the fact that once the track gets to the point of being interesting, it then backs out after. So, I’m left with a rather disappointed feeling by the time I get to the end.

Overall, this is an interesting track with interesting voice samples, synths, and overall flow. The problem is that it leaves me wanting more as it gets to the point of being interesting, then backs off again. It’s an alright track, but could have been better.
