Review: Superchunk – Mower (Rock)

This review covers the rock track Superchunk – Mower.

This track was released in 1993 on the album On the Mouth.

The track starts with a lead guitar and a drum kit. From there, additional lead guitars come in. After that, the vocals come in for the first verse.

From there, the vocals take the track into the first round in the main chorus. Some backup vocals are also present here. This section is capped off with an instrumental section.

After this, the vocals take the track into the next verse. From there, the vocals take the track into an additional round in the main chorus. An instrumental section then takes over. The guitars then lead the track out, ending with some feedback.

For me, the first part of the last instrumental section actually sounds quite good. It does start to deteriorate in quality after a bit, though.

Meanwhile, the vocals are almost impossible to understand. At least half the lyrics wind up becoming lost in the mix. This is likely because they are trying to hit higher notes and garbling the lyrics in the process.

Beyond that, there really isn’t much to write home about with this track.

Overall, this is a decent track with issues that pull it down to the realm of mediocrity. The guitars sound decent enough with some small issues. Meanwhile, the vocals end up being pretty incomprehensible as they garble the lyrics while hitting higher notes. So, an overall pretty average track.
