Review: Lenny Kravitz – Are You Gonna Go My Way (Rock)

This review covers the rock track Lenny Kravitz – Are You Gonna Go My Way.

This track was released in 1993 on the album Are You Gonna Go My Way.

The track starts off with a guitar riff as well as a drum kit. A second guitar is layered over top of the first guitar. From there, the vocals come in for a verse.

There is a talking moment before the vocals take the track into the main chorus. This doesn’t last long as the section is capped off with an instrumental section.

After that, the vocals take the track into the next verse. After another talking section, the vocals take the track into another short main chorus. This section is capped off with another instrumental section. In this section, a guitar gets a phaser effect applied to it. From there, the regular guitar riff continues.

From there, the vocals take the track into another round of the main chorus. Right after that, the track just more or less ends.

On the plus side here, this track has a very recognizable guitar riff. If you lived through the 90s, chances are, you heard that guitar riff somewhere along the line. The pitfall here is that this is almost all this track is. It repeats for such a long period of time, the track almost becomes a one trick pony. As such, after a while, the riff becomes a bit old.

The vocals do add a bit to the track. They balance out that one riff throughout the whole track. Unfortunately, the mastering which caused this track to be quiet, caused the vocals to be a bit lost in the track.

Overall, this track is a passable track. It has an interesting guitar riff. Unfortunately, it’s almost left on auto-pilot throughout the track. The vocals add a bit to the track, but because the track is so quiet, they don’t do a whole lot besides giving the track something else to listen to. A pretty mediocre track.
