Review: Jerome Isma-Ae & Alistor Ft. London Thor – Smoke & Mirrors (Trance)

This review covers the progressive trance track Jerome Isma-Ae & Alistor Ft. London Thor – Smoke & Mirrors.

This track was released in 2016 as a single.

The vocals start out interesting, then becomes heavily filtered. Somehow, the way the lyrics were filtered really works well wit the subject in the lyrics. The vocals were very well produced as they were nicely haunting.

The synth keys that back the vocals actually work quite well. The bassline was also nicely layered with the synth melody.

The synth pads did a good job at filling out the track.

I would say that the main part of the track in the middle was so well produced, it actually made the intro and outro portions of the track seemingly generic and anti-climactic even though there wasn’t a whole lot wrong with it.

Overall, I thought this was a great track. It had nicely haunting lyrics and really portrayed a well thought out darker toned track. The keys added quite a to the mood and bassline and pads were pretty good too. After listening to the whole track, the intro and outro ended up sounding quite generic – partly because the main part of the track was so well produced. Still, it was a great listen.
