Review: Hellsystem – Set Me Up (Gabber Hardcore)

By Drew Wilson

This review covers the gabber hardcore track Hellsystem – Set Me Up.

This particular track was released in 2009 on the Various Bastards E.P.

One thing that is noticeable at the beginning was the pitch-bent synth that gradually slides lower before sliding all over the place. I’m not entirely sure where the voice samples came from, but I thought that they were well placed in this track.

The overall emotion is pretty obvious in this track – a sense of overall betrayal. I thought the chopped portions of the voice samples were nicely done.

As is with the nature of hardcore, this kind of music isn’t for everyone. Still, as far as hardcore is concerned, this was actually a well put together track. The seething anger just permeates throughout the track. Since the nature of music is to trigger emotion, that does make this a very good track. Overall, I found this to be a great track to vent to.

Score
8/10
