Review: DJ Carl Cox – I Want You (Forever) (Full On Mix) (Breakbeat)

This review covers the breakbeat track DJ Carl Cox – I Want You (Forever) (Full On Mix).

This track was released in 1991 along with another version of the track and a different track.

The track starts with a bassline and some high hats. The rest of the sub drum kit then joins in. After this, the main drum kit comes in along with some voice samples. A synth string also comes in.

In the next section, a sort of electric guitar synth comes in. This is joined by an orchestral hit. After a kick roll, the track drops out and some vocals come in. These vocals are backed by a synth string element. The main drum kit comes in. When the vocals end, other voice samples take over.

A synth string melody then takes over. The melody changes up somewhat when the bassline makes a return. From there, the voice samples come in one after another.

The bassline drops out for a bit, but then returns to build the track up. When the voice samples end, the orchestral hits return. Both the voice samples and the voice samples briefly ping pong back and forth. After this, the speech samples become somewhat chopped.

After this, the guitar-like synth returns. It is joined by the voice samples. After this, the track gradually fades out.

One thing I do like about the track is the layered drum kit. There is a very distinct pair of drum kits here. When one comes in, then the other, it really shows off the strength of this track because when both are layered together, it can be easy to miss the fact that there are two drum kits going at the same time.

The various samples that are used are alright. They do add some life to the track.

Meanwhile, the synths used are pretty decent. They give the track a decent variety.

Overall, this is a pretty solid track. While I wouldn’t jump up and down and proclaim this is an amazing track, this is a pretty decent track from beginning to end. I really don’t have anything to complain about necessarily about this one. A pretty good track to listen to.
